Is leakage avoided?
(Leakage is when greenhouse gas emissions increase in another area, because of the carbon offsetting project.)
Yes, all projects in the Moss portfolio develop activities to prevent leakage and monitor adjacent areas to assess the occurrence of Leakage. These activities can be found described in the “Project Description” document and the monitoring results within the “Monitoring Report” documents, in the Verra system from the shared links.
In addition, it should be noted that the projects have “buffer” credits, that is, project credits that are set aside in Verra's account and that can be used to compensate for any leakage that occurs during the projects.
